Celtic Goddesses Collection

Tamesis - is the Celtic goddess of fresh water. She gave her name to the River Thames (which today runs through southern England and London). It was common for the Celts to have a deity for each particular river or body of water, as water is sacred to the Celts. The name Thames is one of the oldest names in England. It is associated with the pre-Celtic idea of tame or teme which means darkness in the sense of holiness. The river was used for ritual purposes, healing, shamanic purification rites and hydromancy (the practice of divination through water).

Amphitrite- Queen of the Sea, its creatures and saltwater (8/?)

Among her sisters, the Nereids, Amphitrite commands the sea and is especially beloved by its creatures. Far more than just the wife of Poseidon, she is the open ocean, leaping dolphins and the calls of the whales.

Hag Stone

A Hag Stone is a stone that can be found in nature with natural holes in it. Other names for these stones include Holy Stones, Odin Stones, Faerie Stones, Adder Stones, witch stones, serpent’s eggs, or snake’s eggs.

In folk lore, these stones are rumored to ward off the unwanted spirits, curses, sickness, and nightmares. They are also said to be used as “windows or doorways to see ‘otherworlds’, invisible spirits, or how a being ‘really’ looks beyond their glamoury.”

They can be placed above the entrance to one’s home to absorb negativity that may enter. They can also ward off night hags and have for centuries been known as a favorite talisman by Cunning Folk to dispel the evil eye. In Italian witchcraft it is believed that gazing through these stones can allow one to peer into the fae realm or the stones could even be a key into the realm of the fae.

They can even break illusions that are cast by evil witches or the fae.

“The legendary druid Mug Ruith was said to have a stone which could turn into a poisonous eel when thrown in water, this may be a reference to an Adder Stone.”

Helpful sea/ocean witch tips to help sea animals

♡if you can’t be vegan or vegetarian for any reason at all, that’s okay! Here are some tips and tricks to help save sea creatures♡

•If you run into some extra money, donate to marine biology centers or to places that help certain sea mammals and fish. You can help an animal of your pick, any amount makes a difference!

-when you go out to eat at sushi restaurants or buffets, get a few veggie rolls/options too! Instead of eating only crab/shrimp rolls or alot of fish, pick a few veggie options too! Before I went vegan I loved crab and seafood, but now avocado and yam sushi rolls are my favourite food. You can also ask the chef to prepare it with the same vegan sauces so the taste won’t change too much if you don’t like the way veggies taste. There’s also many tofu options!

-don’t go to big aquariums or places like sea world. If you do, make your research on how they treat the aninals first. To follow that, usually in tropical vacation spots where you can swim with dolphins they’re treated horribly. Not all places, but most. Save up to go scuba diving or snorkeling to see them in the wild! It’s so so beautiful.

- if you go to the beach and see garbage, pick it up and throw it in the trash. When I last went to the beach I picked up garbage and a girl saw me and did it as well. You might influence others in the process, and they might too! It’s a small gesture, but it’ll make a difference. You can also plan to pick up trash with friends, it’s alot more fun to do it with people who make you smile and laugh, and you can have fun swimming or making sand castles after!

- recycle your stuff! Google it if you don’t know if it’s waste or recycling, it’s a small gesture but it’ll help.

♡ofc if you eat seafood or fish, you don’t have to completely stop if you don’t want to. But small changes are super helpful to you and the ocean.♡
